BERKELEY, Calif. – No. 23 California (15-5, 6-3 Pac-12) protected their home court with a 63-39 win over the Arizona Wildcats (5-15, 1-8 Pac-12) on Friday night at Haas Pavilion.

The Golden Bears were tenacious on the defensive end, forcing Arizona in to 25% shooting and outrebounding the Wildcats 51-30. On the offensive end, Kristine Anigwe led the way with 12 points and 15 rebounds while Asha Thomas and Penina Davidson also scored in double-figures.

For the Wildcats,
Destiny Graham led the way with her second career-double double by scoring 10 points and bringing down 11 rebounds.
Sam Thomas also pitched in 11 points and brought down six rebounds.

Cal got out to a quick 12-3 start, but Arizona would respond well to cut the lead to five going into the second quarter. Thomas led the Wildcats with eight of Arizona's 14 first-quarter points. The second quarter was all Cal as they allowed just three points to the Wildcats while scoring 19 themselves to take a 38-17 lead into halftime.

There were just 24 combined points scored in the third quarter with each team scoring 12 apiece to make the score 50-29 Golden Bears heading into the fourth quarter. Cal maintained their comfortable lead in the fourth quarter with more good defense, outscoring the Wildcats 13-10.

Arizona will venture to Palo Alto next to face the Stanford Cardinal in Maples Pavilion on Sunday evening at 6 p.m. MST. The game will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
