TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona women's soccer team was defeated by No. 2 Stanford on Friday evening in Stanford, Calif. by a score of 1-0. Goalkeeper Lainey Burdett made 11 saves in the match, setting a new career record over her previous 9.
Arizona is back in action on Sunday, Oct. 1 in Stanford, Calif., when the Wildcats will take on Califonia at 1 p.m. MST.

2' – Burdett got her first touch of the game knocking a shot over the crossbar.
10' – Burdett made another big save inside the box diving to her right to keep out a shot.
20' – The Wildcats hadn't had a shot up to this point but Burdett was keeping them in the game with four saves.
36' – Maddie Bennett carried through the midfield and dished to Cali Crisler, but her shot went high.
38' – Arizona got a corner kick that generated a chance for the Cats, but the shot was blocked.
42' – Breakaway chance for the Cardinal was stopped by Lainey Burdett.
49' – Morgan McGarry played one into the box and Crisler touched to Charlotte Brascia, but it was just beyond her reach.
55' – Arizona got another corner but it was played away by Stanford.
62' – Some strong defense from McGarry forced a tough shot that was easily gathered by Burdett.
65' – Jill Aguilera got into the match as she headed a cross on net that was saved.
67' – Stanford scored off a rebound from the crossbar. They led 1-0.
75' – Burdett dove to her left to make a huge save and keep the Cats in the game.
80' – Burdett jumped on a through ball to break up the Cardinal attack.
90' – The Wildcats got one final corner in the match. The ball popped out to Gabi Stoian but her point-blank shot was just blocked by a defender.
