  • Arizona will face the Saint Mary's Gaels in the second round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament following UA's 100-82 victory over the North Dakota Fightin' Hawks on Thursday in the first round. It was the Wildcats' first 100-point game in regulation in the NCAA tournament since defeating Eastern Illinois, 101-76, in the first round of the 2001 tournament. The 16-year span between 100-points games accounts for 40 NCAA tournament games. Rawle Alkins and Lauri Markkanen each scored 20 points to lead Arizona as all five starters scored ten or more points. The 20 points scored by Alkins marked a new season high for the freshman. UA showed why they were the best free throw shooting team in the Pac-12 this season in the win over UND by shooting 24 of 28 (.857) at the charity stripe.
  • The guard trio of Rawle Alkins (five assists), Parker Jackson-Cartwright (four assists) and Allonzo Trier (three assists) combined for 12 assists to just three turnovers in Thursday's win.
  • UA has held the lead for over 29 minutes in each game of its current five-game win streak. In those five games, the Wildcats have led for 164:26, trailed for 24:20 and been tied for 11:14. Arizona's 164 minutes and 26 seconds with a lead accounts for 82.2 percent of those 200 minutes of action.
  • The Wildcats are 7-2 at a neutral site this season, including five consecutive wins. The program is 41-19 (.683) in neutral site locations under head coach Sean Miller.
  • Rawle Alkins played his best game in an Arizona uniform in Thursday's win. The freshman scored a season-best 20 points while connecting on all eight of his shot attempts from the field as well as sinking both of his free throw attempts. The Brooklyn native's perfect shooting from the field was the best shooting percentage by a Wildcat this season with a minimum of eight attempts. Alkins also dished out five assists with no turnovers. He and Lauri Markkanen, who also scored 20 points, shot a combined 16 of 20 (.800) from the field.
  • Arizona's 31 wins this season mark the seventh season of 30 or more wins in program season with four of those 30-win seasons coming in the last seven years.
  • The Gaels are the eighth nationally-ranked opponent the Wildcats will face this season. UA is 4-3 against teams in the AP Top 25 this season. The highest ranked of those seven foes was No. 13 Oregon who Arizona faced on Feb. 4 in Eugene, Ore.
  • Junior Jackson Parker-Cartwright enters Saturday's game just three assists shy of 300 for his career. His 297 assists have come in 97 career appearances for an average of 3.06 assists per game. PJC's 4.17 assists per game this season are a career-best mark for the junior from Los Angeles.
  • Saturday will be the first meeting between the two programs since UA's 73-61 win in Tucson, Ariz. on Dec. 10, 2005. Arizona holds a 4-2 edge in the all-time series that goes back to the 1948-49 season with the Wildcats winning the last three games.
  • Arizona won the 2017 Pac-12 Tournament by winning three games in three days over Colorado, No. 3 UCLA and No. 5 Oregon. It was Arizona's sixth conference tournament championship as a member of the Pac-12 and marked the fifth time the program has won at least a share of the regular season championship and the tournament title in the same year.
  • Allonzo Trier was the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament averaging 20.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 50.0 percent from deep and 82.1 percent at the charity stripe. Lauri Markkanen joined Trier on the All-Tournament team after scoring 20.0 points per game while shooting 47.1 percent from deep.
