Arizona Earns Fourth-Straight Shutout, Beat USF 1-0

TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona women's soccer team defeated the University of San Francisco on Sunday afternoon in Tucson, Ariz. by a score of 1-0. Arizona's goal came from Hannah Stevens off a flip-throw from Jaden DeGracie-Bailey. The Wildcats outshot the Dons 13-5 and continued to prevent their opponent from generating scoring chances, which gave them their fourth-straight shutout.

"I think you have to give credit to winning both games," said head coach Tony Amato. "We have four straight wins and four straight shut outs, so we are happy with that. I give all the girls a lot of credit for finding a way to win, but we know we have to get better moving forward."

3' – Jessica Nelson got the first flip-throw opportunity for the Wildcats, but the attack broke down.

8' – Hannah Stevens played a deep ball over the top of the USF defense, but Paige Crouch was unable to generate a shot.

15' – Play was contained in the center of the field, but USF was maintaining the majority of the possession.

22' – Gabi Stoian got a pass from Charlotte Brascia at the top of the 18-yd. box, but her shot went straight into the hands of the waiting Makayla Presgrave.

27' – Stoian took a corner for the Wildcats which she put at the back of the box, but Presgrave punched it out before anyone could get their head on it.

30' – Nelson took a flip-throw for the Wildcats from deep in USF territory, but the play resulted in an offside call.

36' – Brascia and Stoian connected on a wall pass, but Presgrave made the save on Brascia's shot off her line.

40' – Maddie Bennett made her way through the USF defensive line, but put her shot just to the left of the goal.

49' – Crouch took an off balance shot from Stoian's free kick, but it went high and over the cage.

57' – USF's Izzie Lueken took a header from a corner that she put to the right of Lainey Burdett's goal.

60' – Bennett got a breakaway opportunity, but Presgrave was able to get her body in front of it and broke down the shot.

67' – USF's Camille Wilson got a strong volley from the top of the box off a corner, but Nelson denied that with a block and a clearance.

70' – Jaden DeGracie-Bailey threw a deep flip-throw to Hannah Stevens, who knocked in the shot with her head to put the Wildcats up 1-0.

81' – Brascia got a breakaway chance, but Presgrave was able to get a hand on it and it rang off the crossbar.

87' – DeGracie-Bailey and Brandi Park broke down the USF attack from Miciah Madison.

That ended the game for the Wildcats with a 1-0 victory. They are now at 5-1-1 on the season and are undefeated in their last six matches, including four-straight victories.

Arizona is back in action on Friday, Sep. 16 in Tucson, Ariz. to take on Oklahoma at 7:00 p.m. PST.
