Cats Conclude Bay Area Trip at Stanford Sunday Night

Arizona has won 13 consecutive games versus Stanford with six straight wins in Maples Pavilion

STANFORD, Calif. – Following a 67-62 win at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley, the Arizona Wildcats will look for a Bay Area sweep on Sunday night at Stanford. Arizona erased a double-digit deficit for the second time this season in the win over California as Lauri Markkanen picked up his second double-double of the year with 13 points and 10 rebounds. It will be UA's first game versus the Cardinal since Jerod Haase took over the program prior to this season.

  • UA's 13-game winning streak against Stanford is tied for the longest active streak between two Pac-12 programs, matching Oregon's 13 consecutive wins over USC. The Ducks defeated the Trojans 84-61 on Friday night in Eugene, Ore. for their 13th consecutive win.
  • The Wildcats are 5-2 in the first game of a calendar year under head coach Sean Miller and 25-13 since joining the Pac-12 Conference prior to the 1978-79 season. When playing away from McKale Center in the first game after New Year's Eve, UA is just 10-10 as a Pac-12 member.
  • It was a record-breaking night for Arizona the last time these two programs met on Senior Day last season in Tucson, Ariz. UA set a new program record with 18 made three-point field goals (on 36 attempts) en route to the 94-62 victory. Gabe York was responsible for nine three-pointers himself, which tied Salim Stoudamire for the McKale Center individual record. York, at one point, connected on three treys within a 54-second span in the second half.
  • UA will need to be led by fresh faces versus the Cardinal as all returning Wildcats have scored a combined 45 points in 14 total appearances against Stanford.
  • Junior Dusan Ristic's 80.0 percent shooting in Arizona's win over Cal en route to 16 points was not his first highly-efficient outing from the floor this season. It was his third game of 66.7 percent or better from the field with at least ten field goal attempts. Ristic was 8 of 11 (.727) with two free throws for 18 points versus UC Irvine (Dec. 6, 2016) before going 8 of 12 (.667) with two free throws for 18 points against Texas A&M (Dec. 17, 2016).
  • Friday's five-point victory in Berkeley also marked the return of junior point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright after missing six games with a high-ankle sprain. Jackson-Cartwright finished the night two points, three rebounds and four assists with no turnovers as he was eased back into action with limited minutes. The Los Angeles native now has 41 assists to just 11 turnovers in eight games this season, which is good for a 3.72 assist-to-turnover ratio.
  • Lauri Markkanen drew two charges against the Golden Bears after recording just one in his first 13 games as a Wildcat. He became the first UA player to draw more than one charge in a game this season. Arizona had tallied just nine charges as a team in 13 games prior to its game in Berkeley.
  • Arizona's 67-62 victory at California gave head coach Sean Miller his 200th win at the University of Arizona. Miller now becomes just the third coach in program history to reach the 200-win club. He trails only the legendary coaches Fred Enke and Lute Olson who each have over 500 wins in over 60 combined seasons in Tucson.
