TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona women's soccer team was defeated by Washington on Sunday afternoon in Seattle, Wash. by a score of 2-1. Gabi Stoian scored for the Wildcats after carrying the ball down the left side of the field and slotting her shot into the left corner of the net. That is her fourth of the season. The Wildcats are now 6-6-1 on the season with a 1-4 record in the Pac-12.
"UW started the match better than us and the early penalty kick meant that we were chasing the game all afternoon," said head coach Tony Amato. "We did respond well in the second half, but conceding so quickly after we scored put us right back in a hole. It will be important to fix a few things in training this week and get ready for UCLA on Thursday."
