Oregon Defeats Arizona 1-0 in Eugene

TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona women's soccer team was defeated by Oregon on Thursday evening in Eugene, Ore. by a score of 1-0. The Wildcats are now 6-8-1 (1-5-1 Pac-12) on the season.

"We were able to put them under pressure in the second half and create some better chances," said head coach Tony Amato. "Our players worked and wanted to win, we just came up short today. All we can do is focus on the things we need to win on Sunday and approach that match with a winning personality."

2' – Lainey Burdett got her first touch of the game as she gathered a dangerous cross from the Oregon attack.

6' – Gabi Stoian got a free kick opportunity just outside the 18-yard box. Her shot went past the wall but was deflected before it reached the goal.

12' – Oregon's Kyra Fawcett with a chance down low, but Arizona's defense was able to break it down.

15' – Paige Crouch took a shot from inside the 6-yard mark but she put it over the bar.

26' – Arizona got a free kick just inside the Oregon half. Samantha Falasco's deep ball was cleared by the Oregon defense.

31' – Oregon's Maryn Beutler scored to put the Ducks up 1-0.

32' – Crouch took a shot from deep off the 18-yard mark that was gathered by GK Halla Hinriksdottir.

37' – Laura Pimienta made a strong defensive play, chasing down Marissa Everett to break down the Oregon attack.

50' – Cali Crisler got a cross into the center of the box towards Crouch, but Hinriksdottir got to the ball first.

55' – Burdett stopped a rising shot from Kyra Fawcett to add a save to her stat column.

61' – Crouch was fouled at midfield and had to come off the pitch, Brascia came in to replace her.

62' – Crisler played a great service across the mouth of the goal, but the ball came off the top of Brascia's foot.

76' – Burdett dove across the mouth of her goal to keep out an effort from Marissa Everett.

79' – Hinriksdottir was just able to get her hands on a breakaway effort from Crouch. However, she was injured on the play and Katelyn Carter was subbed in.

87' – Crouch got a great shot breaking to the right side of the net, but GK Katelyn Carter kept it out.

Arizona is back in action on Sunday, Oct. 22nd in Corvallis, Ore. to take on Oregon State at 1:00 p.m. PST.
