PISMO BEACH, Calif. - Tenth-ranked Arizona sand volleyball remained unbeaten on the 2015 season as the Cats swept Cal Poly in their first road match of the season.
Arizona won four of the matches in straight sets as the Cats cruised to victory to improve to 4-0 on the season.
The No. 1 team of Madi Kingdon and Kaitlyn Leary fell behind to Cal Poly's No. 1 squad of Taylor Nelson and Raeann Greisen with a 17-21 loss in the first set. Kingdon and Leary would respond with 21-16 and 15-12 victories in the second and third sets, respectively, to secure the victory.
McKenna and Madison Witt, the Wildcat's No. 2 team, defeated Cal Poly's Nicole Kessler and Caihla Petiprin in straight sets 21-6, 21-14.
Kendall Polan and Rachel Rhoades defeated Taylor Gruenewald and Anna Gorman 21-13, 21-11.
The duos of Allie Cook/Taylor Arizobal and Sarah Seiber/Hailey Devlin also won in straight sets to secure the sweep. Cook and Arizobal defeated Katie Conroy and Hannah Schleis (21-16, 21-16) while Seiber and Devlin got the best of Shannon Fouts and Casey Carroll (21-14, 21-7).
Individual duos will compete in the Cal Poly Pairs Tournament on Sunday in San Luis Obispo.
