CORVALLIS, Ore. – No. 15 Arizona volleyball notched 109 digs, the sixth most in school history and most since 2000, as Arizona defeated Oregon State in four sets (25-19, 27-29, 25-15, 25-14) on Friday night in Corvallis.
The Wildcats' 109 digs were the second most in a four-set match in school history and the first 100-plus-dig match by any Pac-12 team this season. Three Wildcats recorded 20-or-more digs. Ronni Lewis led Arizona with 25, while Penina Snuka (23) set a career-high and Madi Kingdon (21) set a season mark. Laura Larson added 15 digs, a career-high-tying figure.
Kingdon also came up big on the offensive end, picking up 27 kills, one off her career-high. Kingdon hit .266 while notching her eighth double-double of the season. The senior also added two service aces in the contest.
Ashley Harris had one of her best performances in an Arizona uniform, picking up 15 kills on a .371 hitting percentage and notching seven blocks to tie a career best.
Oregon State scored the match's first five points, but other than a closely-contested second set, the match was all Arizona. In addition to the superb back-row defense and the great offensive contributions from Kingdon and Harris, UA picked up seven service aces and 12.0 blocks. Arizona hit .206 in the match while holding the Beavers to a .061 clip.
After falling behind in the first set 5-0, Arizona went on a 21-7 run before Oregon State attempted to make a comeback. Four-straight Beaver points caused the Wildcats to use a timeout, but UA would withstand the rally to take the first set 25-19.
The second set was a closely-contested battle the entire way, with no team leading by more than three. Kingdon's 10 kills were not enough as Oregon State fought off four set points to win 29-27.
Arizona was dominant in the third, using a 9-0 run to take a 15-3 advantage and fighting off a late Oregon State rally to win the set 25-15.
UA carried that momentum into the fourth, leading 10-2 out of the gates and ultimately defeating the Beavers 25-14.
The Cats return home to take on Colorado (Oct. 31) and Utah (Nov. 1). Both games begin at 6 p.m.
