Senior Courtney Karst (Centennial,Colo.) and freshman Madi Kingdon (Phoenix, Ariz.) led the Arizona volleyball team (15-9, 7-8) past Oregon State (14-11, 6-9) on Friday at McKale Center. The Wildcats defeated the Beavers, 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-17).

Kingdon led all players with 15 kills and Karst had 13 kills of 22 attempts with a .591 hitting percentage.

The match had special meaning, as former Arizona volleyball player Kim Glass' jersey was retired at halftime.

Kingdon had six of her 15 kills in the first set. The teams traded points until the Wildcats took went on a 4-0 run and took the lead, 16-12. The Beavers did not come within more than two after that, and Arizona took set one, 25-20, behind a .353 hitting percentage.

Set two proved to be more of the same, as the teams stayed even until 13-13, when Karst's two kills and block sparked the Wildcats on a 5-0 run. Karst recorded another kill at 20-16, followed by two Kingdon kills and a block by Rachel Rhoades (San Diego, Calif.) to close out set two, 25-16.

Taylor Arizobal (Dana Hills, Calif.) came out with the kills in set three, posting two in the first six points. Tied at 4-4, Kingdon and senior Cursty Jackson (Los Angeles, Calif.) had consecutive kills and the Wildcats led 6-4. Oregon State could not make up the deficit and Arizona continued to gain power to win set three, 25-17, and close out the match.

Sophomore Candace Nicholson (Long Beach, Calif.) continued to be a key player for the Wildcats, recording her 11th-consecutive game with double-digit kills with 10.

Rhoades led the team in blocks with three and freshman Chloe Mathis (La Jolla, Calif.) added 37 assists.

Camille Saxton and Dre Shaw led the Beavers with 10 kills each.

The Wildcats will take on No. 20 Oregon on Sunday, Nov. 6 at noon at McKale Center.
