Tucson, Ariz. - The No. 11 University of Arizona women's gymnastics team (2-0, 1-0) defeated No. 10 Oregon State (2-2, 0-2), 195.775-194.800, on Friday, Jan. 17, to win its Pac-10 opener in front of a crowd of 671 at McKale Center.

Arizona jumped ahead of Oregon State by posting a vault score of 48.875, while the Beavers scored a 48.550 on bars after the first rotation. Freshman Abby Pearson led Arizona on vault with a career-high score of 9.850 to place second in the event. Sophomore Jamie Schell added a vault mark of 9.825 to place fifth.

The Wildcats then posted a team mark of 49.100 on bars, to the Beavers 49.175 on vault to hold a slim, 97.975-97.725, lead after the second rotation. Sophomore Monica Bisordi placed second on bars with a career-high 9.850. Senior Nikki Beyschau, sophomore Jamie Duce and sophomore Stevie Fanning each added scores of 9.825 to tie for third on bars.

In the third rotation, Arizona added a team score of 49.150 on beam, while the Beavers posted a team mark of 48.950 on floor. Bisordi and sophomore Jamie Schell each tied for first place on beam with scores of 9.875, which was a career-high mark for Schell. Duce also added a career-high tying mark of 9.850 to place third on beam.

Arizona finished the final rotation with a floor score of 48.650, while Oregon State posted a mark of 48.125 on beam. Bisordi and sophomore Katie Johnson lead the Wildcats on floor, tying for first place with marks of 9.875. Schell placed fourth on floor with a score of 9.850 and Duce chipped in a mark of 9.800 on floor to finish fifth.

Bisordi won her second-consecutive all-around title of the season with a score of 39.350. In her first meet as an all-arounder, Jamie Schell posted a career-high 39.325 in the all-around, which is the eighth-best mark in Arizona history.

The Wildcats will travel to Seattle to take on Pac-10 rival Washington and San Jose State on Friday, Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m. (PST).
