Ginny L. Clements Academic Center
The Ginny L. Clements Academic Center, which opened in October of 2016, is the epicenter for Arizona student-athletes as it houses many support services in the C.A.T.S. family, including C.A.T.S Academics, C.A.T.S. Student-Athlete Development and C.A.T.S. Clinical and Sport Psychology. With over 15,000 square feet in space for a full-size classroom, offices, labs, multiple study areas and meeting rooms, the Ginny L. Clements Academic Center is a key component in the mission of Arizona Athletics to educate and develop student-athletes into the future leaders of our community.
C.A.T. S., or Commitment to Athletes Total Success was one of the first programs of its kind in college athletics. The foundation of the student-athlete experience at the University of Arizona is academic success and preparing Wildcats for life after graduation, and all of this important work is located just across the street from the McKale Center.
The University of Arizona's Academic Center was built after receiving tremendous gifts from Ginny L. Clements, the Braccia Family, the Lapan Family as well as Steve and Margot Kerr. Since the completion of the building, our Wildcat student-athletes have posted multiple record-breaking semesters in the classroom. The C.A.T.S. Student-Athlete Development program, originally created by former AD Cedric Dempsey in the 1980's, was the first of its kind nationally, which takes a holistic approach to prepare student-athletes for life after graduation.
Academics
C.A.T.S. Academics provides customized services to student-athletes for them to achieve academic success. Academic Counselors and Learning Specialists guide a student-athlete in selecting the services that highlight their academic strengths and improve their academic weaknesses. Graduation and personal growth steer C.A.T.S. Academics in services that are offered.
