Wildcats Continue Big 12 Road Swing at Kansas

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Soccer continues its three-match Big 12 road swing Saturday, traveling to Lawrence, Kan., for a matchup with Kansas.
The Wildcats (3-4-3, 0-0-2 Big 12) enter Saturday's contest after battling Kansas State to a 1-1 draw Thursday night at Buser Family Park.
Arizona fell behind 1-0 in the 55th minute before Ally Brown quickly answered for the Wildcats less than three minutes later. Lainey Swanson set up Brown's second goal of the season in the 57th minute, helping Arizona secure its second consecutive draw to open Big 12 play.
Sofia Cortes-Browne made seven saves against Kansas State, including six in the second half, to keep the Wildcats level through the final whistle. Arizona finished the match with 10 shots, including three on target.
Saturday marks the second leg of Arizona's three-match road swing. Following the matchup with Kansas, the Wildcats will travel to Oklahoma State for a Friday, Oct. 2 contest.
ROAD TEST
Arizona will look to continue its strong play away from Tucson as it plays its second consecutive road match.
The Wildcats played four matches away from Tucson during the nonconference portion of the season, earning a 2-1 comeback victory at Gonzaga and a 1-1 draw against LSU in Tempe.
Arizona opened Big 12 play with back-to-back draws against ranked and conference opponents, tying No. 23 BYU before earning a 1-1 draw at Kansas State.
BROWN'S RESPONSE
Ally Brown delivered Arizona's lone goal Thursday night against Kansas State, scoring in the 57th minute to bring the Wildcats level.
Brown's second goal of the season came just 2:34 after Kansas State took a 1-0 lead. Swanson provided the assist, marking her second assist of the season.
Brown finished the match with two shots, including one on target, while Swanson logged 47 minutes and recorded an assist.
BETWEEN THE POSTS
Sofia Cortes-Browne continued to anchor the Arizona defense against Kansas State, playing all 90 minutes and making seven saves.
Cortes-Browne made two saves in the opening half before turning aside five additional shots after halftime. Kansas State finished with 20 shots and nine shots on target, but the Wildcats held the Wildcats to one goal as Arizona earned a point on the road.
SHARING THE ATTACK
Arizona continues to receive contributions from throughout its lineup.
The Wildcats recorded 10 shots against Kansas State, with Brown leading the team with two shots and one shot on target. Trinity Dorsey also recorded two shots, while Jessica Bedolla added three shots.
Arizona's goal against Kansas State was its 11th of the season, with Brown becoming one of several Wildcats to find the back of the net this season.
