
Kansas Scores Twice in Final 10 Minutes to Defeat Arizona, 2-0

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Arizona Soccer fell 2-0 to Kansas Sunday afternoon at Rock Chalk Park.
The Wildcats (3-5-3, 0-1-2 Big 12) held Kansas scoreless through the opening 80 minutes before the Jayhawks found the back of the net twice in the final nine minutes. Arizona recorded one shot on the afternoon, while Kansas finished with 12 shots, including four on goal. The Jayhawks also held advantages in possession (57%-43%) and corner kicks (5-1).
Arizona created its lone scoring opportunity in the fourth minute when Ella Weathersby put a shot on frame, but Kansas goalkeeper Sophie Dawe made the save to keep the match scoreless.
Kansas generated five shots in the opening half, but Sofia Cortes-Browne turned away Faith Johnston's attempt in the 12th minute to keep the Jayhawks off the board. Arizona entered halftime tied 0-0, with Kansas holding a 5-1 advantage in shots and a 53%-47% edge in possession.
The Jayhawks continued to apply pressure after the break, recording seven shots in the second half. Cortes-Browne made another save in the 48th minute on Jocelyn Herrema's attempt before Kansas continued to generate chances throughout the half.
Kansas broke through in the 81st minute when Jillian Gregorski scored her fifth goal of the season off assists from Caroline Castans and Livvy Moore. Gregorski added her second goal of the afternoon less than three minutes later, scoring in the 84th minute off an assist from Norah Jacomen to extend the Jayhawks' lead to 2-0.
Cortes-Browne finished with two saves in the match, while Dawe made one save for Kansas.
Arizona finished with one shot on goal and one corner kick. Kansas recorded four shots on target and five corner kicks.
