Arizona Sweeps Prairie View A&M to Open Season

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Volleyball swept the first match of the 2026 season (25-12, 25-19, 25-10) on Friday night of the Wildcat Classic in McKale Center at ALKEME Arena.
The Wildcats hit .354, served eight aces, and totaled three blocks in the match to complete the sweep. Destiny Ndam-Simpson made her official Arizona debut with 13 kills and a .333 clip. Renee Jones totaled seven kills with a .583 hitting percentage while Carlie Cisneros opened her junior season with five kills, three aces, seven digs, and two blocks.
Arizona won the opening set, 25-12 and the Cats used a 10-0 run early in the first set to create separation from PVAMU. The Wildcats hit .343 as a team and served four aces to take the first set. Ndam-Simpson led the attack with six kills and a .500 clip while Jones and Kennedy Osunsanmi followed with two kills each. Cisneros served two of Arizona's aces and Harmony Sample had the other two to help the Cats win the set.
The Wildcats won the second set 25-19 to take a 2-0 lead in the match. After a back-and-forth start to the set, Arizona used a 3-0 run to pull ahead at 6-3 and held the lead the rest of the set. Ndam-Simpson led the offense with four kills and freshman Marina Vosloo followed with three kills and a .500 hitting percentage. PVAMU had four blocks to limit the Arizona offense to a .226 clip, but the Wildcats served four aces to take the second set.
Arizona completed the sweep with a 25-10 win in the third set. The Cats hit .500 as a team and totaled two blocks to hold the Panthers to a -.054 hitting percentage. Cisneros and Jones led the way for Arizona with four kills each while Ndam-Simpson tallied three kills in the set. The Cats opened the set with a 3-0 run and continued to string together runs throughout the set to win the match.
The Wildcats will take on Tarleton State on Saturday, August 29 at 12:30 p.m. MST on the second day of the Wildcat Classic.
