  • Posted 34 singles victories, the highest on the team, including multiple wins over nationally ranked opponents
  • Advanced to the NCAA Singles Quarterfinals, one of the deepest runs by a Wildcat in recent history

  • Secured seven doubles wins over ranked opponents, four against top-20 pairs nationally
  • Achieved highest-ranked doubles win of the season against No. 7 Filippo Moroni and Mathew Thomson of Wake Forest (with Nick Lagaev)
  • Reached career-best No. 6 doubles ranking (with Smith) and No. 26 singles ranking


Freshman (2022-23)

  • ITA Scholar-Athlete for academic excellence
  • Achieved career-high No. 78 singles ranking in first collegiate season
  • Attained career-high No. 40 doubles ranking (with Jonas Ziverts)
  • Compiled 25–9 overall singles record, including 16–6 in dual matches at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots
  • Posted 19–15 overall doubles record, including 13–8 in dual play
  • Partnered exclusively with Jonas Ziverts at No. 1 doubles in dual matches, earning an 11–7 record
  • Contributed to Arizona’s No. 1 national ranking in community service hours among all Division I men’s tennis programs


High School 
Jay Friend, coming to Arizona from Tokyo, Japan, holds 3 ITF junior singles titles and 6 ITF junior doubles titles. This will be Friend’s first year playing collegiate tennis.
