Wildcats Battle LSU to 1-1 Draw in Tempe

TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona Soccer battled LSU to a 1-1 draw Sunday morning at Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium, using Kyleigh Johnson's first career goal to erase a halftime deficit.
Arizona (2-1-1) controlled much of the attacking action, outshooting LSU 13-6 while holding a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks. The Wildcats generated eight shots in the opening 45 minutes compared to four from the Tigers. Despite Arizona's attacking pressure, LSU broke through late in the opening half. Ava Galligan's attempt took multiple deflections off Arizona defenders before finding the back of the net in the 44th minute, giving the Tigers a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Arizona continued to apply pressure after the break and found its response in the 68th minute. Johnson, who reentered the match less than five minutes earlier, scored the first goal of her collegiate career off a feed from Allyson Brown to level the match at one. The assist marked Brown's first as a Wildcat and third of her collegiate career.
The Wildcats nearly took the lead four minutes later when Brown put an attempt on frame, but LSU's defense came up with the save. Arizona continued to push late, earning two corner kicks over the final five minutes and getting attempts from Swanson and Mireya Stephenson before the final whistle.
Sofia Cortes-Browne started in goal and made one save in the opening 45 minutes. Laurynn Ziller took over after halftime and kept LSU off the board for the remainder of the match as Arizona limited the Tigers to just two second-half shots.

- Johnson scored just 4:17 after reentering the match and finished with two shots in 17 minutes.
- Allyson Brown recorded her first assist as a Wildcat and the third assist of her collegiate career on Johnson's goal.
- Amiya Warner made her 2026 season debut, entering in the 68th minute and logging 22 minutes.
- Arizona outshot LSU 13-6, including an 8-4 advantage in the opening half.
- The Wildcats held LSU to two second-half shots and kept the Tigers scoreless over the final 45 minutes.
- Arizona held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
- Ten Wildcats recorded a shot, with Boydstun, Stephenson, Swanson, Weathersby and Johnson each taking two.
