TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Soccer returns to Murphey Field at Mulcahy Stadium Thursday, welcoming ranked Colorado for its second-to-last home match of the season. The Wildcats will look to build on their recent performances and earn an important Big 12 result while hosting Pups at the Pitch Night, inviting fans to bring their dogs to the match.
Arizona (5-5-5, 2-1-3 Big 12) enters Thursday's matchup following a scoreless draw against Utah on Oct. 16. The Wildcats earned back-to-back Big 12 victories before the draw, continuing a stretch of strong performances as the regular season enters its final weeks.
Arizona faced 12 shots from the Utes, including four on target, but held Utah scoreless through 90 minutes. Goalkeepers Sofia Cortes-Browne and Laurynn Ziller combined for the shutout, with Ziller recording four saves in the second half, including a penalty kick stop in the final minute of regulation.
The Wildcats return home looking to build on their defensive effort and generate more offensive opportunities against the Buffaloes.
PUPS AT THE PITCH NIGHT
Thursday's match will feature Pups at the Pitch Night at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Stadium, giving fans the opportunity to bring their dogs and enjoy an evening of Arizona Soccer.
The Wildcats will look to make the most of their home-field advantage as they welcome Colorado for their second-to-last home match of the season.
ZILLER SAVES THE DAY
Laurynn Ziller delivered a standout second-half performance against Utah, recording four saves to help Arizona earn a road point.
Her biggest moment came in the 90th minute, when Ziller denied a penalty kick from Utah's Nevaeh Peregrina to preserve the scoreless draw. Ziller also made three saves on shots from inside the box earlier in the second half, keeping the Utes off the scoreboard as they pressed for a late winner.
Ziller's performance capped a strong defensive effort from the Wildcats, who recorded their second consecutive shutout.
DEFENSIVE STAND
Arizona held Utah scoreless despite facing 12 shots and four shots on target. The Wildcats limited the Utes to three shots in the first half before Utah increased its attacking pressure after the break.
Ziller recorded all four of Arizona's saves in the second half, while the Wildcats defended two Utah corner kicks and continued to withstand pressure late in the match.
Arizona will look to carry that defensive resilience into Thursday's matchup against Colorado.
LOOKING FOR THE FINISH
The Wildcats recorded five shots against Utah, with two reaching the target. Mireya Stephenson and Jessica Bedolla each recorded a shot on goal, while Ally Brown, Lainey Swanson and Ella Weathersby also attempted shots.
Arizona created opportunities in both halves, including early chances from Stephenson and Weathersby and a second-half attempt from Bedolla that required a save from Utah goalkeeper Anna Solomon.
The Wildcats will look to turn those opportunities into goals against Colorado as they return to Murphey Field for their second-to-last home match.
BUILDING MOMENTUM AT HOME
Arizona enters the final stretch of the season following consecutive Big 12 victories before earning a scoreless draw at Utah. The Wildcats have shown their ability to compete defensively and secure results, earning points in recent conference play.
With Colorado coming to Tucson, Arizona will look to use its home-field advantage to get back in the win column and close out its remaining home matches on a strong note.
