TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona GymCats, fresh off their two best scores of the season in the last two meets, will head to Utah to compete in the 2021 Pac-12 Championships this Saturday at the Maverick Center.

Arizona has posted scores of 196.075 and 196.000 in back-to-back meets, marking their two best team scores of the season. Over that stretch the GymCats have excelled in their two strongest events, posting scores of 49+ on beam and floor in both meets.

The young GymCats squad will compete in Session 1 on Saturday afternoon, beginning at 11:00 a.m. MST. The entire event will be broadcast live on the Pac-12 Networks.

FINISHING STRONG: The GymCats have posted their two best scores of the 2021 season in the last two meets, going for 196.075 at Arizona State on March 6 and 196.000 in a tri meet on March 13. The prior week, in a tri meet at Air Force with Texas Woman's University, the GymCats earned their first win of the season.

YOUTH MOVEMENT: The GymCats roster is loaded with young talent in 2021, with 15-of-19 players being freshmen or sophomores. Arizona has relied heavily on these underclassmen in 2021, using them for 163-of-191 routines thus far.

PAC-12s: The only currently-competing player on the GymCats roster who performed in the most recent Pac-12 Championships, held in March 2019, is MacKinzie Kane. Kane, a freshman at the time, competed on vault and scored a 9.625.

ALL-AROUND: Two GymCats have completed attempts at the all-around in 2021, sophomore Malia Hargrove and freshman Jessica Castles. Hargrove posted a career-high score of 39.225 last weekend, while Castles' first career attempt at the all-around clocked in at 38.925, also last weekend.

COACH COURT EXTENDED: Arizona Gymnastics head coach John Court has agreed to a three-year contract extension that will see him lead the GymCats through the 2024 season. In his two-plus decades in Tucson, coach Court's overall body or work includes developing multiple All-Americans, helping extend the GymCats NCAA Regional appearance streak to 31 seasons, overseeing unprecedented success in the classroom, and much more.

STATE 48: The Wildcats 2021 roster features six student-athletes from the state of Arizona, including three local products hailing from Tucson: freshman Madison Courney, junior MacKinzie Kane, and freshman Halli Mayberry. The six Arizonans represent nearly a third of the Wildcats roster.

G-PAC: In January, a group of Pac-12 gymnasts announced the formation of G-PAC, or "Gymnasts for Peace, Action, and Change." G-PAC facilitates an environment where diversity and inclusion is both welcomed and encouraged. The Wildcats are represented on the student-athlete driven organization by sophomore Sirena Linton.
