Arizona Hosts Exhibition Match Against Team Japan

Tucson, Ariz. – Team Japan traveled across the globe to take on the Wildcats in an exhibition match. At the start of the exhibition, head coach Ryan Stotland and Japan's coach, Takeshi Itoh
shook hands as team Japan brought a gift to show their appreciation.
Team Japan brought their best male and female junior players including: Yuna Saito, Momoko Kajino, Ryotaro Koshiba, Taiyo Kurata and Daisuke Yanase.
Junior Talya Zandberg and freshman Kayla Wilkins played the first two singles sets. Zandberg defeated Saito 6-1 and Wilkins fell to Kajino 7-6 (5). After the first sets Arizona put in Abby Amos and Gitte Heynemans to play a second singles set against Saito and Kajino. Amos won 6-4 and Heynemans won 6-1. Sophomore Csenge Furak also defeated Kajino 6-2.
While the women played singles, Arizona men's tennis participated in three matches against the three men Japan brought.
Support Arizona women's tennis next weekend as the Wildcats host a double header against North Texas and NAU on Feb. 7 and Kansas State on Feb.9. Follow
