Arizona Loses 7-0 to No. 37 NC State

LUBBOCK, Texas – Arizona (7-4) fell 7-0 to No. 37 North Carolina State (6-6) on Saturday in Lubbock, Texas.
NC State won the doubles point, winning on court one 6-1 and court three 6-1, leaving the third match unfinished.
No. 113 Anna Rogers defeated Mary Lewis 6-4, 7-5 on court one. No. 94 Claudia Wiktorin won over Marie Van Aelst on court three, 6-0, 6-1. NC State clinched the match when Bianca Moldovan defeated Gitte Heynemans 6-3, 6-1 on court four. Sophia Thomas fell to Tayla Stenta on court six, 7-5, 6-0. Talya Zandberg fell to Taylor Bridges 6-2, 6-3 on court five, and Adriana Reami defeated Camila Wesbrooks 6-7(6), 6-1, 1-0 (10-4).
"Unfortunately, the match was moved indoors due to heavy winds," said head coach Vicky Maes. "NC State is a seasoned indoor team and we definitely felt like we were trying to play catch up, never truly taking any control. In the doubles, we could not convert the deuce games and that made for a quick loss of a crucial point. In fact, I think we lost about ninety-percent of our deuce games this weekend, so putting enough points on the board was close to impossible. Still, we are making improvements and some of our ladies are playing much better tennis than when the season started. It is these things we have to celebrate and built on. We need to stay positive and keep fighting to turn the tide little by little."
The Wildcats head back home to host UC Santa Barbara on Friday, March 2 at 12 p.m. and Sacramento State on Saturday, March 3 at 12 p.m. MST.
