Addi Zerrenner & Carlos Villarreal Close Out NCAA Championships

Madison, Wis. – Addi Zerrenner and Carlos Villarreal closed out the 2018 cross country season on Saturday at the 2018 NCAA Championships in Madison, Wis.
"It was Addi's (Zerrenner) last college race and I am really proud of her," said head cross country coach James Li. "I thought she ran really well. Finishing 68th out of 253 runners was a really good cap of her collegiate career at the University of Arizona. We are just really proud of her. Carlos ran a really solid race today. For him, it was the third 10K race ever for him in the cold. He probably could have done a couple things to help himself out a little more. But I think it was very solid, and I think this is such a great breakthrough season for him. This is going to set him up really well for track and next year. Hopefully he will bring a team here as a team leader. Overall, a really good, positive day and I am very proud of both runners."
Zerrenner, competing in her final contest as a Wildcat, ran a time of 20:51.41 in the ladies 6K. The senior finished in 68th place with her third-best 6K finish of the year.
Villarreal, a redshirt junior from Rio Rico, Ariz., finished the men's 10K in 78th-place. He finished the final cross country meet of the year with a time of 30:28.08; his second-best 10K finish this year.
Up next, the Cats will host the 2018 Winter All-Comers meet on December 9th at Roy P. Drachman Stadium in preparation for the 2019 indoor track & field season.
