
Cats Finish Fifth, Earn Trip to NCAAs

TUCSON - No. 7 University of Arizona Wildcat women's golf. The three-day, three-round event was hosted by the University of Washington at Washington National Golf Course (par 72, 6,321 yards). The top eight teams from each regional site will advance to the NCAA Championships, May 18-21, hosted by Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
The Wildcats finished fifth with an 895 (+31) to secure their spot at the NCAA Championships later this month. No. 1 USC won the event with a score of 886 (+2). No. 13 Tennessee finished second with an 876 (+12) while No. 6 Virginia and No. 23 UC Davis rounded out the top three with an 887 (+23). Individually, No. 17 Erica Popson of Tennessee led all weekend and won the event with an eight-under 208.
No. 25 junior Isabelle Boineau picked up her eighth top-10 finish of the season with rounds of 75, 70 and 74 for a total of 219 (+3). She finished tied for ninth. No. 51 junior Margarita Ramos moved up again on day three and ended the tournament in a tie for 22nd place. She carded scores of 76, 74 and 74 for a total of 224 (+8). Sophomore Kyndall Ardoin moved up seven spots on the final day of play. She recorded scores of 78, 73 and 75 for a total of 226 (+10) for a tied for 25th-place finish.
No. 72 senior Alejandra Llaneza finished tied for 49th. She had a three-day total of 230 (+14) with individual rounds of 74, 80 and 76. Junior Nikki Koller rounded out the Wildcat five with a tied for 63th place finish. She shot rounds of 81, 76 and 77 for a total of 234 (+18).
Arizona will play next at the NCAA Championships, May 18-21, in College Station, Texas.
