Arizona Topples Texas

TUCSON, Ariz. - After starting the day with a slight lead over the Longhorns, both Arizona men's and women's swimming and diving programs finished off the victory Saturday with the women's team knocking off UT, 201-152, while the UA men, in a matchup of arguably the top two teams in the national, won by a score of 181-171.
In day two events, Annie Chandler and Ana Agy were both a part of two victories. They each swam on the women's 200 medley relay which won with a time of 1:40.61. Chandler then took home the women's 100 breast event in 1:01.40, while Agy turned in a first-place finish in the 100 back (54.49).
Jordan Smith and Jack Brown gave the UA men two big individual wins on Saturday. Smith outpaced UT's Dave Walters with a time of 20.18 and Brown won the 200 I.M. with a cruising time of 1:48.74.
Other standouts for the Wildcats Saturday included Marcus Titus who won the 100 breast event in 54.85 and Jenny Forster who was runner-up in both the 200 I.M. and 100 back.
In the past two weeks, the Arizona men have now defeated No. 1-ranked Texas, No. 2 Stanford and No. 4 California.
Both Wildcat teams will conclude its dual meet season on Feb. 13 when they travel up to Tempe to face Arizona State in a rivalry meet.
