UA Notes for Monday, Aug. 11
** Juan Veloz, a native of Mexico City, Mexico, was the only Wildcat in the water during competition Monday evening in Beijing. He participated in the 200-meter butterfly heats, where he finished eighth in heat six with a time of 1:57.32. Incidentally, Veloz swam in the same heat as the USA's Michael Phelps, who set a new Olympic record during the swim with a time of 1:53.70.
** The U.S. women's volleyball team was swept by Cuba on Monday and are now 1-1 in pool play. Kim Glass notched three kills and one block, while playing in two of the three games against the Cubans.
