20070120 Swim and Dive Complete Day One Competition vs. Texas and SMU

The women won eight of 10 events during this evening’s competition, beginning with the 200 free relay of sophomores Lara Jackson, Anna Turner, junior Brandy Collins and junior Lacey Nymeyer, which won with a time of 1:33.10. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p> </o:p> Senior Whitney Myers won the 400 IM with a time of 4:18.48, while freshman Caitlin Iversen finished third (4:19.62). Nymeyer finished second in the 100 free with a time of 50.64, as Iversen won the 200 back with a time of 1:59.16 and sophomore Kathryn Thompson finished second (2:00.16). <o:p> </o:p> Freshman Annie Chandler finished first in the 200 breast with a time of 2:13.19, and in the 100 fly, freshman Ana Agy finished second (54.66) while Myers finished third (55.37). Nymeyer finished the individual events for the Wildcats by wining the 500 free with a time of 4:51.53 and in the 400 medley relay, freshman Andrea Boritzke, <st1:City><st1:place>Chandler</st1:place></st1:City>, Agy and Nymeyer won with a time of 3:41.95. <o:p> </o:p> In the diving well, senior Megan MacDonald finished fourth in the 3-meter competition with 273.30 points and sophomore Allison Scaife finished fourth in the 1-meter (237.30). <o:p> </o:p> On the men’s side, the 200 free relay team of junior Albert Subirats, sophomore Nicolas Nilo, junior Darian Townsend and freshman Joel Greenshields finished second with a time of 1:20.81. Senior Adam Ritter finished second in the 400 IM with a time of 3:55.08 and Nilo finished third in the 100 free (44.48). <o:p> </o:p> Ritter posted the first victory for the men’s squad in the 200 breast with a time of 2:00.43 and sophomore Josh Arreguin finished third (2:01.79). Subirats won the 100 fly with a time of 47.62 and freshman Jean Basson won the 500 free with a time of 4:25.16. <o:p> </o:p> In the final swimming event, the 400 medley relay team of Ritter, junior Ivan Barnes, Subirats and Nilo finished first with a time of 3:13.73. <o:p> </o:p> Freshman Mike Guilfoil posted a second-place finish in the 1-meter diving competition with 281.65 points and finished third in the 3-meter (313.50). <o:p> </o:p> <st1:State><st1:place>Arizona</st1:place></st1:State> will complete dual meet competition against the Longhorns and the Mustangs tomorrow at <st1:time Hour="12" Minute="0">12 p.m.</st1:time> (CST).
