Wildcats Complete Day Two of Texas Invite
The Wildcats now tally a total of 27 automatic qualifying times and six new school records throughout two days of competition as the women currently post 575 team points and the men post 528 points.
“We are having a really strong meet and I’m really proud of both team’s performances,” head swim coach Frank Busch said. “Setting school records halfway through the year is not an easy task, so it really shows how well the kids are competing. They are setting themselves up for a really good end of the year.”
Freshman Caitlin Iversen finished second in the championship finals of the 400 IM with an automatic qualifying time of 4:14.65, while classmate Jenny Forster finished third (4:16.61) and senior Emily Strouse finished seventh (4:22.72).
Nymeyer won the 200 free with a school record-breaking performance and an automatic qualifying time of 1:44.38, and Myers posted an automatic qualifying time in the race as well, finishing second overall (1:46.00).
In the 100 breast,
Myers posted another automatic qualifying time in the 100 back, finishing second overall (54.29), while freshman Ana Agy finished fourth with a consideration time of 54.83 and sophomore Hailey DeGolia finished fifth with a consideration time of 54.79.
On the men’s side, the 200 medley relay team of juniors Albert Subirats, Ivan Barnes, Darian Townsend and sophomore Nicolas Nilo finished first with an automatic qualifying time of 1:26.14.
Freshman Jack Brown posted the first individual win for the men in the 400 IM, finishing with an NCAA consideration time of 4:47.27.
Five Wildcats qualified for the championship finals of the 200 free, as senior Adam Ritter finished first with an automatic qualifying time of 1:34.30, freshman Jean Basson finished third with an automatic qualifying time of 1:35.04, while Nilo, Townsend and freshman Joel Greeshields finished sixth, seventh and eighth, each posting a consideration times.
Barnes finished third in the 100 breast with a consideration time f 54.61 and sophomore Josh Arreguin finished eighth (56.24).
