Wildcats Drop to Fourth Place after Day Two at Pac-10 Championships
Long Beach, Calif. ?- The No.8 men’s swim team completed the second day of competition at the Pac-10 Championships in fourth place with 162 points and a total of seven NCAA consideration qualifying times.
Junior Tyler DeBerry took the first qualifying time for the Wildcats in the 500-yard freestyle where he finished seventh with a time of 4:23.80. Junior Dave Rollins finished sixth in the championships finals of the 200-yard individual medley (1:46.96) and sophomore Adam Ritter finished 12th (1:48.76).
In the 50-yard freestyle, junior Simon Burnett finished sixth with a time of 19.84 and junior Lyndon Ferns placed eighth (20.04), both posting consideration-qualifying times. For the final event of the evening, the 200-yard free relay team of freshman Gerhard Zandberg, senior Byron Jeffers, freshman Albert Subirats and Ritter finished fifth with a time of 1:21.01.
The men will continue competition tomorrow at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool. Preliminary action begins at 11 a.m. and finals will take place at 6 p.m.
