Wildcats Fall to No. 2 USC

LOS ANGELES ?- After a two-day competition with USC, the No. 6 Arizona men’s swimming and diving team fell to the No. 2 Trojans 182-170 Saturday, dropping the Wildcats to 1-1 (0-1 Pac-10).
While
Juniors Simon Burnett and Lyndon Ferns took the top-two positions in the 200 free as Burnett finished first (1:34.19) and Ferns was second (1:36.93). Ferns also won the 50 free with a time of 20.05. In the 100 back, freshman Nick Thoman placed second (49.08) and Burnett finished third (49.32).
In the 100 breast, Barnes finished second (55.92), Rollins was third (56.26) and Stevens came in fourth (56.60). Junior Tyler DeBerry finished second in the 1650 free (15:31.55) and third in the 200 fly with a time of 1:51.99. Rollins placed second in the 200 individual medley (1:49.98).
For the final event of the day, the men’s 400 free relay team of Ferns, Persson, Ritter and Burnett won with a time of 2:56.73.
The Wildcats will resume competition on Thurs., Dec. 2-4 when they travel to
