UA Golf Notes: The top-ranked Wildcats have been ranked No. 1 for the past 11 weeks in a row... Each member of the Arizona top-five is ranked among the nation's top-45...The UA has earned its top-ranking by capturing seven tournament titles this season, including the last six in a row, which is a school record... With one more win, the Cats can set the school record for tournament wins in a season with eight... This year's team is tied with the 1991-92 squad, who also won seven tournaments... The only times Arizona has not won this season were a second place performance at the year's first event -- the NCAA Preview and fifth place showing at the Stanford Invitational... The first victory of the season was at the Dick McGuire Invitational held in Albuquerque, N.M... Arizona took home the title by finishing at 28-over-par 880... The next win came at the Golf World Invitational in Hilton Head, S.C... There, the Wildcats finished with a total of 11-over-par 875... At the TRW Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif., the UA won with a 17-over-par 869... For the second year in a row, the Wildcats won the Arizona Invitational held at the Randolph Park Golf Club in Tucson with a team score of 17-over-par 857...The fifth tournament title of the season took place when the Wildcats traveled to Honolulu, Hawaii, for the Rainbow Invitational... Arizona posted a team total of 19-over-par 883... The fifth consecutive tournament win, a new school record for the Wildcats, was at the Ping/ASU Invitational held in Tempe, Ariz., at the Karsten Golf Course... The team shot 8-over-par 872... The sixth win in a row and seventh overall in 1999-00 came at the Pac-10 Championships in Eugene, Ore., at the Eugene Country Club Golf Course... Arizona posted a three day team total of 19-over-par 883, finishing 18 strokes ahead of the second place team... Jenna Daniels has 11 consecutive top-10 finishes dating back to last year's NCAA West Regionals... Further, she has placed among the top-10 in 26 of her last 29 tournaments dating back to her sophomore season... She has been ranked No.1 in the country for the past seven weeks in a row.

1999 West Regional Recap: The Arizona women's golf team finished in second place at last year's NCAA West Regionals, posting a team total of 26-over-par 890. The tournament was held at the Pine Forest Country Club (par-72, 6,119 yards) in Houston... USC captured the team title, carding a 15-over-par 879... Arizona State (29-over-par 893), Texas Christian (40-over-par 904) and Stanford (45-over-par 809) rounded out the top five... Arizona's Jenna Daniels took home the individual title, shooting a three day total of 5-under-par 211 (70-67-74)... Arizona State's Grace Park and Nevada's Angie Yoon tied for second, posting a 1-under-par 215... UA's Cristina Baena tied for 19th (10-over-par 226) while Christina Monteiro tied for 25th (12-over-par 228)... Last year's senior Krissie Register, tied for 29th (13-over-par 229) and Jill Gomric tied for 39th (15-over-par 231).
Pac-10 Honors for the UA: Jenna Daniels was named the 1999-2000 Pac-10 Conference Women's Golfer of the Year... She was also named to the All-Pac-10 first team... Joining Daniels on the All-Pac-10 first team were two other UA golfers - Jill Gomric and Cristina Baena... Two Cats were named to the honorable mention team, Christina Monteiro and Julia Kraschinski... Head coach Todd McCorkle was selected as the Pac-10 Coach of the Year... For Daniels, this year marked the third consecutive year she has been named to the All-Pac-10 first team... It was Gomric's second consecutive season to receive All-Pac-10 first team mention.
The UA's Last Action: The Arizona women's golf team captured its sixth consecutive tournament title at this year's Pac-10 Championships on April 26, carding a team total of 19-over-par 883... It was the UA's fourth Pac-10 title in school history and third in the past four years... The tournament was played at the Eugene Country Club Golf... Individually for the Wildcats, Jenna Daniels shot a three day total of 3-over-par 219 and finished in second place... Cristina Baena placed third with a 4-over-par 220... Tied for fourth place was Jill Gomric, carding a 5-over-par 221... Julia Kraschinski finished her first Pac-10 Championship tied for 14th with a 10-over-par 226, while junior Christina Monteiro tied for 26th at 15-over-par 231... Competing as an individual was freshman Anne Lee, who also tied for 26th at 15-over-par 231.
Arizona's Coaching Staff: Todd McCorkle, this year's Pac-10 Conference Coach of the Year, is in his second season as head coach of the women's golf team... He has led Arizona to 11 tournament titles in 22 outings during his two years at the helm of the UA women's golf program... Prior to last year, McCorkle served as UA Director of Golf Rick LaRose's associate head coach for both the Arizona women's and men's teams in 1997-98... Last year, the women's team finished second at both the Pac-10 Championship and NCAA West Regional, and then placed fourth in the NCAA Championships... Prior to coming to Tucson, McCorkle was the head coach of the Coastal Carolina men's and women's golf teams... He is assisted by Amy Solfisburg, who is in her seventh year with the UA women's golf program.
Wildcat Golf Tradition: Arizona won the 1996 NCAA title, finished third in 1996 & 1997 and placed fourth last season... The UA has produced three national players of the year - Annika Sorenstam in 1991 and Marisa Baena in 1996 and 1997... There have been three national champions from Arizona... Susan Slaughter won it in 1990, Sorenstam in 1991 and Baena in 1996... In the past four years, Arizona has had 12 All-America first, second or honorable mention team performers... Further, there have been 20 All-Pac-10 first, second or honorable mention team selections... Overall, Arizona has produced 13 first team All-Americans... In the 1990s, the Wildcats have won 41 tournaments and had 38 individual champions.
