2016 (Freshman Year): During her freshman year at Arizona Skyler Sheppard was the only freshman to compete in three different events. She competed on beam in 11 different meets, and at the season opener on January 8th against Michigan State she earned a season and career high of 9.825 on beam. On March 19th she competed in the Pac-12 Championship where she received a 9.725 on vault. Lastly, she competed twice on floor, and earned a season high of 9.675 vs. ASU on February 22nd.

Club/High School: Skyler went to Plano East Senior High School, where her high school team won the State championship every year she was there. In high school Skyler also lettered in softball, where she played pitcher and short stop. She was with her club gymnastics team, WOGA, for 4 years before she came to Arizona. Under head coaches Laurent Landi and Natasha Boyarskaya, in 2013 she won the vault championships at Regionals, and in 2015 Skyler won the All-Around competition at Regionals in addition to qualifying/attending Nationals.

Personal: Skyler Sheppard was born in Silversprings, Maryland, but grew up in Murphy, Texas. She is one of five children, she has two older siblings, Ryan and Austin, and two younger siblings, Maguire and Quincy. Gymnastics runs in the Sheppard family. Her older sister Austin was a gymnast at the University of Michigan, while her older brother Ryan was a gymnast at Stanford, Quincy and Maguire aren’t far behind. With her free time, Skyler loves to shop, sleep, and lay outside to tan. In a few years she hopes to graduate with a major in Education and a minor in Sports Management. She loves working with kids and has always wanted to be a teacher. A fun fact about Skyler is that she loves giraffes!
