Wildcats Surge Into Second Place at Folds of Honor Collegiate

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. – After playing the back nine of the first round in 3-under par as a team, the Arizona women's golf team carried that momentum over into the second round to post a score of 285 (-3) – the best round in the 12-team field – and move into second place heading into Wednesday's final round.

Individually, the story for the Wildcats in round two were a pair of freshmen in Olivia Hung and Nagore Martinez. Hung was 1-under par after the first round and vaulted herself to the top of the leaderboard with a 69 (-3) in round two to hold the individual lead at 4-under par for the tournament. She is one stroke ahead of Mia Hammond from Duke. Hung opened her second round with birdies at 11, 12 and 14 and then found her fourth birdie of the day on hole 2 before a bogey on the next hole.
For Martinez, she finished with a score of 68 in the second round, which tied for the lowest round of the day among the 60 golfers competing. She is now even par for the tournament and tied for 11th individually. Martinez had 14 pars and four birdies on her scorecard, with all four coming in a four-hole span from Hole 18 and then Holes 1-3.
Senior Charlotte Back is tied for third place individually at 2-under par for the tournament after a 73 (+1) in the second round. Her second round started with 12 consecutive pars before a bogey on her 13th hole of the day.
The fourth counting score for Arizona came from Cloe Amion Villarino, who carded a 75 in the second round and is 7-over par for the tournament and tied for 35th.
Kinsley Ni registered a 77 in her second round and is +11 for the tournament and tied for 46th.
Arizona will be looking to win this tournament for the second time under head coach Giovana Maymon, after winning the 2024 edition in Maymon's head coaching debut.
