Arizona Blanks Northern Arizona, 3-0

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Soccer returned to the win column Thursday night with a 3-0 shutout victory over Northern Arizona at Mulcahy Stadium.
The Wildcats (3-3-1) received goals from Ella Weathersby, Kyleigh Johnson and Allyson Brown while outshooting the Lumberjacks 19-9, including an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal. Arizona held 55% of possession and earned five corner kicks in the victory.
Arizona wasted little time getting on the board. Weathersby opened the scoring in the 12th minute, finishing a feed from Jessica Bedolla for her first goal of the season and second of her career. The assist marked Bedolla's first of the season.
The Wildcats continued to apply pressure throughout the opening half, generating 13 shots and putting seven on frame. Arizona nearly doubled its advantage several times before Johnson broke through just before the break.
Johnson forced a save from Northern Arizona goalkeeper Lexi Saveski in the 44th minute before finding the back of the net just five seconds later to give the Wildcats a 2-0 advantage heading into halftime. The goal was Johnson's second of the season and second in the last four matches.
Northern Arizona had an opportunity to cut into the lead in the 63rd minute after earning a penalty kick, but Laurynn Ziller denied Micala Boex from the spot to preserve the shutout.
Arizona added its third in the 73rd minute. Johnson and Emerson Stoft combined to set up Brown, who found the back of the net for her first goal as a Wildcat and the first goal of her collegiate career, extending the Arizona advantage to 3-0.
The Wildcats closed out the final 17 minutes to secure their second clean sheet of the season and improve to 10-0-2 all-time against Northern Arizona.
Sofia Cortes-Browne and Ziller split time in goal, with Cortes-Browne making two saves in the opening half before Ziller added one in the second. The duo combined for three saves in the shutout.

- Arizona's 19 shots were a season high, surpassing the 14 recorded against Dartmouth. The Wildcats put eight attempts on frame.
- Arizona scored three goals from three different players and received three assists from three different Wildcats.
- Cortes-Browne and Ziller combined for Arizona's second shutout of the season, with Ziller stopping a second-half penalty kick.
