Lauren Lappin Named Finalist for D1Softball National Assistant Coach of Year

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Softball Associate Head Coach Lauren Lappin has been named one of 25 finalists for D1Softball's National Assistant Coach of the Year award.
Lappin has been a valuable member of the Arizona coaching staff since she joined in 2022 and has consistently produced top defenders, including three conference Defensive Players of the Year and three Rawlings Gold Glove winners.
In 2026, Lappin coached the Arizona defense to a program record 46 double plays to lead the NCAA. The Wildcats posted a .973 fielding percentage and totaled just 39 errors to rank eighth in program history for fewest team errors in a season. Lappin guided Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Regan Shockey to a .993 overall fielding percentage and a 1.000 conference fielding percentage to become the first Wildcat to earn Defensive Player of the Year honors in the Big 12. Shockey (CF) and Sereniti Trice (2B) were both named to the Big 12 All-Defensive team. She also helped Tayler Biehl record 393 career assists to rank ninth in program history.
The D1Softball National Assistant Coach of the Year, as well as the Pitching Coach of the Year, presented by PitchCom, will be announced on August 31st.
