Arizona Wins 4-3 Battle Over Wisconsin

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Arizona (7-2) comes out victorious in a 4-3 battle over Wisconsin (6-4) on Saturday.
The Wildcats secured the doubles point with Devin Chypyha/Camila Wesbrooks winning on court one (6-3) and Mary Lewis/Talya Zandberg on court two (6-4), leaving the third match unfinished.
Arizona's success continued in singles when Gitte Heynemans cruised to victory over Melissa Pick on court five 6-4, 6-4, and Mary Lewis defeated Sara Castellano 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 on court two.
The Wisconsin Badgers kept the score close with Kelsey Grambeau defeating Talya Zandberg 6-2, 6-3 on court four, and MaryAnn Rompf defeating Camila Wesbrooks 6-3, 7-6 on court three. Lexi Keberle defeated Devin Chypyha 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 on court one to tie the Wildcats.
The Wildcats sealed the match when Sophia Thomas defeated Michelle Linden 6-0, 3-6, 7-6.
"This was a very emotional match for us," said head coach Vicky Maes. "We did a great job in the doubles working together and creating some positive momentum. But Wisconsin put up a strong battle and it looked for a long time like it was going to go their way. In the end, it came down to keeping our cool on some key points and finding a way to win, something we have been talking about all year. It wasn't always pretty but that makes for the best wins; doing it with true grit and tons of heart. A special shout out to Sophia Thomas for, once again, coming up clutch and clinching her match under some very difficult circumstances."
The Wildcats will head to Lubbock, Texas to face Texas Tech on Friday, Feb. 23 at 1:00 p.m. MST and North Carolina State on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. MST.
