Solid Play for Cats at ASU/PING Invitational

TUCSON - No. 8 University of Arizona Wildcat women's golf has two players in the top 10 after round one of competition at the ASU/PING Invitational, completed on Friday. Held at Arizona State's Karsten Golf Course, competition will take place Fri.-Sun., April 1-3.
The 54-hole tournament will be played over the course of three days with 18 holes played each day. The ASU Karsten Golf course is set at a par 72 over 6,230 yards.
No. 3 UCLA leads the event with a 276 (-12). No. 1 USC is in second place with a 281 (-7). No. 23 Texas is in third place with a 286 (-2). No. 8 Arizona is just three strokes behind the Longhorns with a 289 (+1). No. 29 Tiffany Lua of UCLA is leading the individual race after shooting a five-under 67.
"We are looking to shoot low tomorrow to catch the top teams," head coach Laura Ianello said. "We had solid performances from Isabelle (Boineau) and Kyndall (Ardoin) today. Nikki (Koller), Margarita (Ramos) and Alejandra (Llaneza) are looking to shoot under par the new two days."
No. 28 junior Isabelle Boineau was Arizona's top golfer and made a big push on the last three holes to move into the top 10. She carded a two-under par 70 to tie for fifth place. Sophomore Kyndall Ardoin shot a one-under 71 for a tied for 10th-place finish. No. 73 senior Alejandra Llaneza is in a tie for 31st place after shooting a 74 (+2).
No. 57 junior Margarita Ramos is also in a tie for 31st place with her score of 74 (+2). Junior Nikki Koller rounded out the Arizona five in a tie for 63rd place. She carded a 77 (+5).
Sophomore Sherlyn Popelka is competing as an individual. After round one, she is in a tie for 41st place with a 75 (+3).
Tee time for Saturday's round is set for 8 a.m. PT.
