
M Golf Moves Up at NCAA Regional

TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona men's golf team moved into 12th place at the 2010 NCAA Southwest Regional in Santee, Calif.
Arizona posted a second-round total of 297 (+9) and now stands in 12th place after 36 holes with a 604 (+28) tally. UA's round Friday was 10 strokes better than its opening-round effort, but the Wildcats moved up just one place in the team standings.
Oregon leads the field with an eight-over par 584 total, two strokes ahead of California. Individually, CSU-Northridge's Nick Delio will carry a one-stroke lead into tomorrow's final round after carding a 36-hole total of 140 (-4).
Leading the way for the Wildcats Friday, was junior Tarquin MacManus. The Cairns, Queensland, Australia, native shot a one-under 71 - UA's first under-par round of the event - and stands in a tie for ninth place at two-over 146. MacManus was the individual medalist at last year's NCAA Southeast Regional in Sorrento, Fla.
Senior Rich Saferian is tied for 42nd place at seven-over 151, three strokes ahead of teammates Jonathan Khan and Philip Bagdade, who are tied for 57th place. Freshman Trent Redfern is tied for 70th position at 15-over 159.
The 2010 NCAA Southwest Regional concludes tomorrow at Carlton Oaks Golf Club, a par-72, 7,360-yard layout. The top five teams and one individual advance to the NCAA Championships, June 1-6, at The Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tenn.
