TUCSON, Ariz. - Two Wildcats earned their first career top 20 finish, while another picked up his career best finish in the WNMU Cactus Thaw.
Juan Pablo Hernandez became the third UA golfer to finish in the top five in a tournament this year with his 139 (-3) effort. It was the freshman's season and career low finish and tournament. Stefan Cox's eleventh place finish was the best of his Arizona career. Likewise, Trent Redfern picked up his best finish as a Wildcat, finishing tied for 28th. Peter Ireland also finished tied for 28th. The junior's top three career finishes have come in this event, with his best, a T18 post, coming as a freshman.
Western New Mexico collected its fourth consecutive victory in its home event, finishing 569 (+1) and cruising to a five stroke victory. The Mustangs were led by Scott Crichton who took home the individual medal with his 136 (-6) performance.
Up Next: Arizona heads to the Aloha state for the John A. Burns Intercollegiate this week, Feb. 17-19.
